What to know before creating a recurring live event
Before you create your recurring event, take note of the following:
- If your event has a registration form, it will appear with each recurrence of the event.
- Visit Troubleshooting: Unable to remove a registration form from a recurring live event for more information.
- New live events created by Contributor Plus members are stored in their own personal folder and must be moved to a shared team folder to go live.
- Duration is separate from recurrence end: the event duration field (the length of a single occurrence) is now independent from the recurrence end date (when the series stops repeating). The duration field is informational only — the stream will not be automatically stopped when the duration elapses, so the event owner must select End event to stop the broadcast.
- Concurrent-stream limits: each occurrence of a recurring event is counted independently against your account's concurrent-stream limit at its scheduled time. You can review your full schedule and any overlaps on the Live Events dashboard. If an occurrence cannot start because the limit is already in use, the event owner receives an email explaining why.
How to create a new recurring event
You can set a recurring schedule while creating a live event. To do so:
- From your Vimeo home page, select the Host button and choose your event type.
- On the Add event details step of the creation process, select the Recurring event toggle.
- Use the drop-down menu and checkboxes to set how often the event should recur (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly), then set the duration of each occurrence and the recurrence end date independently.
- Select Create to create your recurring live event.
How to make a previously created live event a recurring event
You can edit the schedule of a previously created event from your library. To do so:
- Select the event from your Live events folder to open the web-based production studio.
- Select the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner.
- Expand the Schedule pane and select the Recurring event toggle.
- Use the drop-down menus and checkboxes to set how often the event should recur (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly), and set the duration of each occurrence and the recurrence end date independently.
- The settings will save automatically.
